The villages of Kirtling and Upend lie in Cambridgeshire on the eastern edge, close to the Suffolk border and situated 5 miles south east of Newmarket. It is a quiet rural community surrounded by attractive rolling countryside and mixed woodland. The villages contain many historic buildings. The parish benefits from a superb Village Hall<\/a> and also the Red Lion pub<\/a>.\u00a0The Red Lion is a traditional village pub in a stunning location. If\u00a0it\u2019s a pint and a chat you\u2019re after you\u2019ll find good ale and a warm welcome at the Red Lion.<\/p>\n

“We went for lunch after a walk in the very pleasant surrounding countryside ( highly recommend the area for walking ). On both occasions we found the pub very friendly and welcoming. A big plus for us is being able to take our dog inside. To find such a lovely pub that serves good food in a fairly rural location is great these days.
