East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) is offering free CPR and defibrillator training sessions this
Organised by James Lay, District Councillor for East Cambridgeshire District Council, the training sessions are a collaboration between Dullingham, Stetchworth and Burrough Green Parish Councils, East Cambridgeshire District Council and EAAA.

EAAA is a charity providing advanced critical care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to the most seriously ill and injured people in the region by air and road. Every year, around a quarter of EAAA’s emergency taskings are to people suffering an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. The charity aims to educate and raise awareness of life-saving defibrillator and CPR skills in the community. This can improve patient outcomes by equipping people with the knowledge and confidence to start the chain of survival as soon as possible, before the arrival of the emergency services.

Josh Lawrence, Community CPR Training Manager at EAAA, says: “The chain of survival is a series of time-sensitive actions and interventions taken in the event of a cardiac arrest to give somebody the best chance of survival and recovery from this life-threatening medical emergency.

“Every year, just over 30,000 people are treated for an out of hospital cardiac arrest,” Josh continues. “Unfortunately, around only 8% will survive. Two key steps in the chain of survival are bystander CPR and bystander automated external defibrillator (AED) use.”

To train more people in these life-saving skills, EAAA offers free one-hour CPR and AED sessions to people across Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire, with forthcoming training in East Cambridgeshire:

Dullingham: 15 April – The Sports Pavilion, Stetchworth Rd, Dullingham, Cambridgeshire, CB8 9UJ, 19:00-20:00.
Stetchworth: 17 April – The Ellesmere Centre, Ley Rd, Stetchworth, Cambridgeshire, CB8 9TS, 19:00-20:00.
